So let me please just apologize for the absence,
My radio silence has been pretty constant, even on Instagram, just nothing, nada.
I need more hours in the day, if that could be possible it would be great! But around here I've just been busy, we have like 15 projects going on in our house, and that's consuming a majority of my time, plus work, plus moms best, plus church commitments! Yikes, like the only store I've gone to is the lumber store, like 1,000 times. But besides that we also have some pretty exciting news! My sister is having a baby, yes finally! We are so dang excited around here! So I've been busy gathering some fun inspiration! You can come check out all my house, outdoor, shower, & party lovin' inspo. here!

Here's what I've been inspired by lately! You can also click the link below to  follow me! Visit Chelsey Mass | Bright & Bold's profile on Pinterest.

Unicorn Toppers.

Tuesday, April 7, 2015

Hey friends, today I'm over here at Mom's Best sharing this DIY unicorn toppers
beware they are so easy you might just be tempted to make an entire fleet of them without even thinking! But seriously they are easy! And how fun are they for a party? You can make them into cake toppers, candy sticks, or drink stirrer. For this party we made these into treat sticks! I also threw a couple in some small vases as a centerpiece!  Be sure to stay tune for the party photos of this SUPER fun unicorn party I put together for a one and four-year-old nieces!

See the full tutorial over here, step by step photo included!

Unicorn Cookies.

Wednesday, April 1, 2015

First, outline your cookies, use the same frosting listed below, just add more powdered sugar to thicken it up, make sure its nice and stiff, meaning it will hold its shape!

Now fill these bad boys, this is the thin "flooding frosting". just use a piping bag with the end cut small, now just fill in around the outline, the frosting will "run together" this is good, this will fill in all the nooks. If you have any bubbles, use a tooth pick and pop them! Let your frosting dry.

Now fill in with the details, I'm going to be honest, I cheat a bit, sometimes if I need black (which is a hard color to mix, it always looks brown) I just buy the store bought and put a cake tip on the end of store bought tube, it works like a dream!

Hello, So still unicorn party around here, it's just getting good!
And since I had to bribe my neice not to have an Elsa cake or "tak-e" as she would say in her words, than unicorn cookies were a MUST, I know these cookies look somewhat intimidating but just trust me they aren't, actually the dough is super easy, and no chilling required! The frosting is 4 ingredients, yup that's it, so here's the recipes and the step by step photos are above, don't over think it. If your piping or outlining, make the frosting thick, if your filling, make it thin so you can push the frosting around. Have fun, this can be fun to make with the kiddos!

Sugar cookie recipe:

1 Cup butter, softened
1 Cup granulated white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 egg
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 cups all purpose flour

Bake 350 for 8 minutes! Recipe adapted from here, click here for the rest of the directions.

Icing Frosting:

1/4 cup meringue powder
1 cup cold water (NOT hot)
2-4 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract

Mix these all together, just watch the consistency, if your needing thicker frosting for piping than add powdered sugar. If you need thinner, add water, just a couple drops goes a long ways.
